Today, I received one of the simplest and one of the most wonderful parts about being a writer–the copyright for my latest novel, Where the Mistletoe Grows. It never gets old. It is now in the Library of Congress. It is mine.
Even though I’m in the middle of final edits, cover design, and all the minutiae that goes with being an author, the moment that envelope arrived with Library of Congress on the return, I stopped what I was doing, opened it, and grinned from ear to ear. I read it over and over and held it against my heart.
For all of those struggling with their writing, with the process, don’t be discouraged. Finish your work, your piece of art, and get that copyright. Then, smile like a Cheshire cat.
