I had my followup MRI this week and just got the news. It is totally benign! Since, I’ve had a biopsy and now carry an internal clip, they will never be “normal.” Totally benign is the next best thing.
I learned something on my visit. When looking to do the gene marker DNA test, they usually start with the one who has or had cancer. If they carry it, they move to the next. If you develop breast cancer after a certain age, they assume it’s not genetic. However, that is not always the case. Now, I find myself doing even more research.
So, everyone, women and men, do your self-exams and be checked by a physician. If there is cancer in your family, think about taking that extra step. It may save your life or the life of someone related to you!
