Surviving a Book Signing

I am a shy person by nature. The idea of being the main attraction for anything scared the20130926_booksigning daylights out of me. So, I only go to events that include more than just me. That’s why I thought I would be okay for the Barnes and Noble book signing this fall. But, as the day approached, my nerves tightened, until, on the day of the even,  I was as tightly strung as a fiddle and just as ready to snap. I wasn’t sure I was going to make it. However, my sweet hubby put everything in the car, including me, and off we went to our local B & N.

There were six authors and I was smack dab in the middle, a little more secure with nice warm authors settled on either side. Then, my new boss showed up and we chatted and she bought my newest book. Before long, another friend showed up. Then, another. Then colleagues from my last job, including my ex-boss. The night went by in a blur of laughter and joy, talking, catching up, and selling books. My friends were there to help me through and I actually had a great time. Oh, I’m still shy. But, when friends and family have your back, you can do anything.
